A Case of Carvernous Sinus Thrombosis associated with Superior Vena Cava Thrombosis
Kim Tae-Young

Abstract
The two cavernous sinuses lie on either side of the sellar turcica and are connected by the intercavernous sinuses. They receive blood from the facial veins and pterygoid plexus via the superior and inferior ophthalmic veins and drain into both the inferior and the superior petrosal sinuses. Septic facial lisions remain the most frequent form of infection predisposing to the development of septic cavernous sinus thrombosis. The author reported a case of cavernous sinus syndrome presented with ¥², ¥³, ¥µ cranial nerve palsies, periorbital edema and chemosis, followed by obstruction of superior vena cava due to intraluminal thrombosis.
